Private Peanut Island Boat Trip from Riviera Beach
A Peanut Island boat trip is the easiest way to spend a day on clear water in Palm Beach County. The island is an 80-acre county park at the Lake Worth Inlet, and the only way to reach it is by boat. South Florida Yacht Rental runs private trips there from Riviera Beach City Marina, a few minutes from the island by water.
You get the whole boat, a USCG-licensed captain, and snorkel gear. The captain anchors on the sandbar side or drops you at the park dock, your choice. Most trips run 3 to 4 hours.
Call or text (561) 945-8527 to book. We answer 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week.
What You'll Do at Peanut Island
The water around Peanut Island comes straight through the inlet from the ocean, so it's clearer and bluer than the rest of the lagoon. Here's how a trip usually goes:
- Cruise from Riviera Beach City Marina to the island, about 10 minutes
- Anchor off the sandbar on the lagoon side and swim, float, and snorkel from the boat
- Tie up at the park's day-use dock if you want to walk the 1.25-mile trail around the island or use the snorkeling lagoon on the south shore
- Cruise back past the Palm Beach estates on the return
Manatees visit the lagoon in winter. The snorkeling lagoon on the island is calm and shallow, good for kids and first-time snorkelers.
What's Included
- A USCG-licensed captain, in the price
- Fuel, in the price
- Snorkel gear
- Life jackets and pool noodles
Bring your own food and drinks. Gratuity for the captain is extra.
Know Before You Go
A few park rules that change how the day works:
- Alcohol is not allowed on Peanut Island itself. Drink on the boat.
- There's no food concession on the island. Bring what you need.
- The swimming beach has lifeguards from Memorial Day until Palm Beach County schools start in August, and on weekends the rest of the year.
- Balloons are banned in the park, so leave the party decorations on the boat.
- The island gets crowded on weekends in season. A weekday trip means more room on the sandbar.
Our captains know where to anchor for the water depth, the current near the inlet, the county's no-anchor zone between the east dock and the fishing pier, and the boat traffic. That's the part that goes wrong on a self-drive rental. Snorkel visibility changes with the tide and the weather, so the captain picks the timing for the lagoon stop.
Why Book With Us
Most Peanut Island boat trips are 2-hour pontoon tours with 10 or 12 strangers, or app rentals where the captain and fuel get charged separately at the ramp. Our trips are private, on company-owned boats, with our captain and fuel in one price. Trips run 3 to 4 hours, so you get real time in the water instead of a quick loop.
See Palm Beach boat tours for the other routes we run, including the celebrity homes cruise that pairs well with this one.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How far is Peanut Island from the dock?
About 10 minutes by boat from Riviera Beach City Marina. The island sits just inside the Lake Worth Inlet. Call or text (561) 945-8527 and we'll send directions to the dock.
-
Can we get off the boat and walk on the island?
Yes. The park has day-use docks and a 1.25-mile walking trail. Tell the captain you want to go ashore and he'll tie up at the dock.
-
Is snorkel gear included?
Yes. Masks and snorkels come on every charter. The snorkeling lagoon on the island's south shore is the calmest spot.
-
Can we drink on the boat?
Yes. Bring your own drinks, alcohol included. Alcohol is not allowed on the island itself, so plan to drink on board.
-
Is Peanut Island good for kids?
Yes. The snorkeling lagoon is shallow and calm, and the swimming beach has lifeguards in summer. Life jackets in kids' sizes are on board.
-
Do you run Peanut Island trips on weekends?
Yes, seven days a week, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Weekends in season are crowded on the sandbar. Weekdays are quieter and cost less.
-
Is the water always clear?
Usually, because it flushes through the inlet with every tide. It can turn murky for a day or two after heavy rain or wind. Your captain checks conditions the morning of the trip and will tell you if snorkeling is worth it that day.
-
When is the best time to see manatees?
Manatee season runs November 15 to March 31. They visit the lagoon on the island in the cooler months.
